TITLE Reduplicated Syllable Therapy (1.5 hours) CEUs This course is offered for 0.15 ASHA CEUs (or 1.5 PDHs) (Intermediate Level, Professional Area) COST $35.00 for 2 week access COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS 1) Watch course videos 2) Complete course quiz 3) Complete course survey 4) Provide ASHA information for CEUs COURSE DESCRIPTION This program is designed for children with significant phonological delays and a limited sound inventory who struggle to produce more than one-syllable words. By beginning with sounds already in the child's inventory, participants will learn to introduce simple CV structures at the one-, two-, and three-syllable level. This simple approach can expand the childâs inventory through easy drill and expand their ability to produce two-syllable (CVCV) and three-syllable (CVCVCV) reduplicated patterns. Participants will be given step-by-step instructions for developing a baseline, learn how to elicit productions, and when to increase complexity to new levels. This method is appropriate for minimally verbal and young children entering the schools from the Birth-3 program and applicable to children in self-contained rooms and as the beginning of therapy for those suspected of apraxia of speech. Clinicians can use this program to increase the childâs speech/language skills while giving them the confidence to attempt other sounds and syllable structures. LEARNER OUTCOMES 1) Learn how to complete a baseline of stimulable sounds to develop a Reduplicated Syllable Set (RST1) 2) Describe how to implement RST in sessions. 3) Explain when to increase or decrease complexity during RST. 4) Develop Reduplicated Syllable Set 2 (RST2). 5) Determine when to move to Cycles.
