Why Cycles?

Rethink traditional articulation and the needless drill at every level with every sound!

Learn how to treat phonologically delayed children effectively and quickly!

Some children are not ready for Cycles. Maybe they only have a few early initial consonants and vowels. By beginning with easy, reduplicated CV words, clinicians can increase the child’s speech and language while giving them CONFIDENCE to try other sounds and structures. Also great for children who may be apraxic.

If you are struggling to correct /r/, this is the seminar for you!

Maybe it's so hard because you
cannot discriminate between
good and bad productions.
This seminar can teach you how!

If you are the type of therapist that needs to 'see' therapy in action in order to understand a program, then this webinar is for you!

Let's Hear It For /R/!

is a structured, streamlined approach for correcting this most difficult sound.  This is NOT a quick fix for /r/. For those of you that have searched for one know there is NO quick fix!

In this webinar you will listen to audio clips of real students working on /r/, watch six video clips, and practice your discrimination skills.  The webinar will lead you through the following nine steps for remediating /r/:

STEP 1    Learn how to establish the easier INITIAL /r/ with nonsense words (skip /er/)

STEP 2   Drilling of initial /r/ using Webber’s Articulation Drill book or similar

STEP 3   Drilling of initial /r/ at the phrase and sentence level

STEP 4   Coarticulation and Feedback

STEP 5   Drop coarticulation and move on to final /r/ phrases and sentences

STEP 6   Medial /r/ - Just a formality

STEP 7   Reading level

STEP 8   R-blends if needed

STEP 9   Dismissal

Reviews for Cycles

This is what past attendees have said in response to the question:

Would you recommend this

presentation to others?

Highly! Dawn was a very engaging and interesting speaker. I appreciated her sharing so many resources!

I really liked learning how to score the HAPP-3. I have this test and it is incredibly overwhelming at first, but going through it made me realize what a great tool it is, and that it is no where near as complicated as I initially thought. resources!

The real-world application was my favorite part! It was not just talk of theory that we get in so many workshops. Dawn is "in the trenches" and tailored the workshop to teach us how to implement this program with real life examples. Working through scoring a test and creating a cycle for a child with other participants was wonderful!

Absolutely! Overall, realistic techniques to use in therapy. So many workshops focus on theory and never get to the actual practice.

This was the most useful and helpful workshop my county has sent me to in 10 years!!  I would recommend this to others.

Yes!  Excellent--great handouts-very detailed-helps save us so much time!

All of the information was AMAZING!!  I had always heard of Cycles, but had no idea how to start the process.  It seems so much more easier than I though and the results seem amazing!  Thank you for this information and all the handouts!

Absolutely!  This is truly the 1st conference I've been to (I think EVER) that I was not drifting off to sleep.  I LOVED the "heavy text" handouts!  It is so hard to remember so much information and I will be able to study my handouts and keep learning even after the conference.  Thank you so much!

Yes!  Great presenter and research!

Yes, presenter was engaging and articulate.  I liked the pace of the workshop and the hands-on experience.

Reviews for Let's Hear It For R!

I just completed (YAHOO!!!) the presentation. Love it! I would love to purchase anything you have available for sale....audio, video or otherwise. I am excited to try this with a few of my kiddos tomorrow! As a side note, I had printed out your /r/ program from your website quite awhile back. I have used in particularly with one student who is in the gifted program at my school. I actually pulled out the program and had him go through it with me. He loves to talk about co-articulation. Anyhow, we got to one part where you mentioned gently biting the back of his tongue. When we reached that point, he said "Well, if you would have told me that 3 years ago I wouldn't be sitting here right now!" I thought that was so cute!

Thank you so much. Please keep me in mind when you go to sell products! I'm in!!

Your presentation was excellent. I actually downloaded your handout awhile back, but listening to your webinar really made your points crystal clear. I am constantly looking for new strategies for therapy and I am glad that you posted this webinar.

You're presentation was so helpful.  I'm in my 3rd year and have never felt comfortable with the /r/.  I came across your website and worksheet at the end of last year and have found it very helpful, although, I'm so glad I paid the money to watch your Webinar and see the examples.  I would definitely love some discrimination practice as I am finding that's really hard for me.

I'm so glad I came across such a helpful and easy to understand approach to remediating /r/.  I feel so much more confident and am ready to tackle the program with my students now.  I can't wait to start.

I watched the Webinar in January and have used it every day since. I have spent way more money on classes and never have really carried over the information into therapy like I did this webinar.  I did realize I need some discrimination training. Hopefully you will have that in the near future.  Thanks so much Dawn!

I loved the presentation and learned so much. I'm a new clinician and the /r/ is such a bugger for me.  I started ray-bay Friday after watching the presentation and already, I could see an improvement in the /r/ sound with a student that I had a hard time with.  I am so excited about using this program, it makes so much sense to me. Thank you so much.

I just finished this webinar today. It is awesome! It gave me all kinds of new ideas and it was an eye-opener about why certain things have NOT worked for me. I was really BAD at distinguishing the good vs. bad productions of /r/ -- something I thought would be really easy. Dawn -- now i would like to see more of your therapy demos, including how you work on /r/ for a group. Thanks a million for doing this -- we need more.

INSTRUCTOR

Dawn M. Moore, ClinScD., CCC-SLP

Dawn Moore is the owner and founder of Expressions Speech & Language Center in Burlington, NC. Dr. Moore has 20 years of experience and practiced in the schools of North Carolina for 15 years as both a clinician and Lead SLP and was recognized as a Teacher of Excellence at the NC Exceptional Children’s Conference.

She began expanding into private practice in 2010, serving children 18 months to 14 years. She has supervised numerous SLPs and Speech Assistants she has employed as well as students in varying educational programs. Over the years, she has presented across the country for various state speech conventions, county speech departments, and local school districts and universities.

Her main interests include articulation and phonological therapy, specifically /r/, using her own program Let's Hear It For /R/! which was the subject of her clinical research study for her doctorate.

For phonology, she uses and teaches others how to use Barbara Hodson's Cycles for Phonology. She is a trained Orofacial Myologist working toward certification due to the struggle in finding her own daughter help with a severe tongue thrust and abnormal resting posture. Through this training, she has learned about the impact of tethered oral tissues (aka tongue-tie) on the resting posture of the tongue and balance of the orofacial complex. She regularly completes functional evaluations for tongue tie and other myofunctional disorders and refers patients to qualified providers skilled in tongue-tie revision. The high incidence of un-diagnosed tethered tissues in her speech practice has led her to begin educating professionals in her area about the impact of ties on speech, feeding, chewing, breathing, and dentition.
